HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The organizers at the Huntsville Speedway were hoping to open their 2020 season this Saturday, May 16. Friday afternoon they announced on Facebook that the start-date will not happen.
Their statement read “The COVID-19 pandemic claims yet another date for competition at Huntsville Speedway Alabama. The management at Huntsville Speedway Alabama has reached the decision to suspend the date of May 16, 2020 for our opening event.”
Earlier this week, they posted that they were awaiting approval by government officials to continue despite the amended safer at home order clearly stating that race tracks were to remain closed.
The Facebook post went on to say “Huntsville Speedway management will adhere to the guidelines at all times for COVID-19. Once we get the approval to start the season, all who enter the premises and confines of the speedway, will be asked to respect and obey all posted procedures.”
