Huntsville police officer injured in crash with suspected drunk driver

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A Huntsville Police Department officer was injured in a crash with a suspected drunk driver early Saturday morning.

A HPD spokesperson confirmed with News 19 that the two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Jordan Lane and Holmes Avenue around 2:20 a.m. The wreck involved a HPD officer and a citizen.

The citizen was arrested for DUI and identified as Timothy Chandler, 35. Chandler was transported to the Madison County Jail where he was being held without bond.

The officer was transported to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer was released and is recovering at home.
