Man hit, killed in early Saturday morning wreck on University Drive

HUNTSVILLE, Ala –  Huntsville Police confirm a man was hit and killed early Saturday morning.

Police said Timothy Lee Redmond, who was wearing dark clothing, was attempting to walk across University Drive northbound, traveling from the Marathon gas station to a bus stop between Henderson Road and Boxwood Drive.

HEMSI spokesman Don Webster said crews were called to the wreck at 12:36 a.m.

At that point, police stated Redmond was hit by a Lexus ES330 in the middle lane and was laying in the right lane when a Chevy Tahoe hit him.

Redmond was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said two people have been detained and questioned.

The road was temporarily closed in that area, but it has since been reopened.
