Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville Police arrested 29-year-old Korte Pierre Watkins around 8:45 Thursday morning, following a standoff at a home on Thornton’s Way Circle, near Pulaski Pike and Winchester Road.

Watkins surrendered to officers outside the home, and was arrested without incident.

According to Huntsville Police, the situation started just after 5 p.m. when there was an attempt to serve an arrest warrant for Watkins, who then went into a house and barricaded himself, refusing to make any contact with officers.

Huntsville Police evacuated nearby residents for their safety for several hours Wednesday night.

Family members returned to their home late Wednesday evening and were able to get Watkins to surrender peacefully Thursday morning.

Watkins was wanted by Decatur Police for seven felony charges for first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, electronic solicitation, traveling to meet a child for a sex act, and three counts of obscene matter.

Watkins was booked into the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $695,000 bond.
