HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police arrested four people at an unannounced checkpoint at Highway 72 and Jeff Road on Saturday night.

Two people were arrested for DUI, one was arrested for a felony and one for a misdemeanor.  Additionally, police issued 115 citations and impounded three vehicles.

Huntsville Police spokesperson Harry Hobbs said the checkpoint is part of the ongoing crash reduction program funded through grant money from the state’s traffic safety office.  The money helps the department pay overtime for the officers.

Hobbs said officers will continue to set up additional checkpoints to encourage people not to drink and drive.  The extra checkpoints will continue until at least March.
