HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)-  Huntsville fire crews battled a fire on Mountain Gap Road near Brandywine Drive Sunday afternoon.

It’s a two-story brick house, and fire crews believe the fire began on the first level near the garage.  A fire investigator is still looking into how it got started.

Neighbors say an elderly woman lives there alone.  She got out safely and was treated at the scene for minor burns to her arms. Her neighbors and family were caring for her when the Red Cross arrived to assist, too.

Firefighters say they were also able to save the woman’s dog, who they found hiding back behind the house.
