HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Hundreds showed up Saturday, May 2 to walk to raise awareness about multiple sclerosis.  Statistics show more than 400,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with the disease.

During the Walk MS Huntsville event, people had the choice of walking one, two or three miles to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Public speaker Heath Campbell was diagnosed with MS in 1998 and says raising awareness helps each person affected.

“Coming out here and helping, you’re raising funds and awareness to help people with MS to get medication and stay on the medication that works for them,” Campbell said.

Each year, nearly 333,000 people across the United States walk in support of those affected by MS.
