HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - An estimated 700 people attended the 6th annual North Alabama Cyber Security Summit at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville Wednesday. The event is a partnership between the North Alabama Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (NAC-ISSA) and Cyber Huntsville.

The two-day event opened with an address by Mayor Tommy Battle. Cyber Huntsville was one of the mayor's initiatives when he took office in 2008. It's a coalition of 200 area technology companies.

Those member companies were joined by cyber security experts for the first day of the summit. Speakers included a former member of military intelligence, an information security officer in the banking industry and a representative from Marshall Space Flight Center.

The summit resumes at 8:00 a.m. Thursday.
