Historic house in downtown Huntsville caught fire

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville Fire and Rescue crews responded to a fire at a historic home in Downtown Huntsville.

The fire call came in around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night. The fire started at the ‘Ware House’ at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Calhoun Street, according to authorities.

Huntsville Fire says they rescued two dogs but no people were inside.

Neighbors said that the two dogs were taken to an emergency vet but seemed to be okay.

The Huntsville Fire Chief stated that 4 engines, 1 ladder truck, and 2 battalion chiefs were called initially but more crews came in and rotated out.

The fire is under investigation but investigators say it awhile to get in the house because of structural problems.

The homeowners were notified.
