HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Heart of the Valley YMCA has appointed a new Executive Director for the Hogan Family YMCA in Madison.

Daniel Kasambira will take over the position on January 5th.

Kasambira moved to the Tennessee Valley four years ago as Director of Alabama A&M University’s Student Health and Wellness Center, but his roots are with the YMCA. He has served as executive director of three YMCA facilities throughout the country.

“I believe strongly in the mission, ‘To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all’,” said Kasambira.

Kasambira has also previously worked as Relationship Manager for the Central Alabama United Way.

Kasambira maintains active involvement in several community service organizations. He is currently the Board President of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Alabama, Governance Chair for Huntsville Community Drumline, Co-Chair for Family Field Day and Resource Fair and 2015 Kite Day Festival Co-Chair. He is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Huntsville Class 27. He had the opportunity to serve as the 2012 United Way of Madison County Pacesetter Campaign Chair as well as Chair the Charitable Outreach Committee for the BBVA Compass Bowl

Kasambira says his first order of business will be to get feedback from community stakeholders, and focus his work on health, wellness, and youth development.
