Hearing today for woman charged with manslaughter in drug overdose death

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A Felony Exam Hearing is scheduled for Bethany McDuffie on Wednesday morning. She’s one of two people charged with manslaughter in the case involving an overdose death.

Police say Corey Alexander Brower, 26, died of a fentanyl or heroin-fentanyl overdose in June. And they say McDuffie and another man sold the drug to him. Two others face drug charges in the case.

McDuffie’s hearing is scheduled for 9:30 Wednesday morning in Judge Coats courtroom of the Madison County Courthouse.

The 19-year-old is charged with manslaughter and conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.

Jonathan Joe Curtis Allen, 25, also faces manslaughter, conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime and distribution of opiates in the case. He has a hearing scheduled for tomorrow, July 9.

Pedro Sierra and Thomas Obarr face drug charges in the case.
