Habitat for Humanity Gives a Grandfather a Home

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - It's part of the American dream... owning a home.  Habitat for Humanity is the hand up many need to make this dream a reality.  It's the sights and sounds of construction.  For Lariy Newby it's the sights and sounds of a dream.

"Today It feel grateful to be moving to a new first time home owner bound uh future home to my two grandsons and myself." Lariy said.  He works on the home.. that his late wife would have wanted.

"I lost her 2009, June 28th due to breast cancer, so we had custody of the two boys which is my grandson and hers, So I`m taking over things and keep on continuing raising them." Lariy said.  Volunteers are working on the finishing touches of Lariy's home.  Wells Fargo Employees presented a check and are giving their time paying into the home's sweat equity.

Steven Norris with Wells Fargo shared "It`s part of being a part of the community we live and work, and being familiar with the story of Mr. Newby, can`t think of anyone more deserving of a home."

"The most best part of this is seeing other people in the community to volunteer and care and love to help and see other people advance and see a better way of life.Grateful blessing through the Lord and the Habitat Homes!" Lariy said.

Lariy said the home should be ready to move in by the end of June.
