HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - If you listen hard enough, the collective sighs of relief resounding from area gas stations are almost audible. With prices at the pump nudging just below $2 per gallon  in some places, for many, it's cause for celebration.
But you may need reminding it wasn't so long ago, $2 a gallon for gas seemed like the end of the world.

Lately prices at the pump have been a game of limbo: how low can they go? Some stations in the metro boasting sub-two-dollar gas for the first time in, well a long time. So long in fact, we took to the archives to find out how long.
