HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Around 11:45 Tuesday night, Huntsville Police received reports of shots being fired near Evans Avenue and Medaris Road.

Minutes later, Huntsville Hospital started receiving several gunshot wound victims.

Police quickly found the crime scene in the 2200 block of Evans Avenue. Police then put crime scene tape around the street. There are dozens of bullet casings in the middle of the road.

According to Huntsville Police, at least four people were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds; one female and three males.

Police believe 18-year old Philip Montague is the suspect believed to have opened fire, and officers believe two people returned fire. Montague is one of the three males who was admitted to Huntsville Hospital, and he later died in the ER.

The others in the shooting are expected to survive.

This was the second of two shootings that happened between midnight at 1:00 am on Wednesday. Police say neither of the shootings appear to be random acts. Investigators say they believe there were arguments or altercations that led up to both shootings.
