HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Dogs on Deployment helps troops find foster homes for their pets while they're deployed.

It also helps with other pet related expenses. For example, the organization flew one dog from the area to Germany to be with her person, who was deployed for a few years.

Now you can help.

Dogs on Deployment Alabama Coordinator Lara Elizabeth Knight invites you out, "The Beer, Dogs, and Veterans event [Wednesday] will be at Yellowhammer Brewing company from five to nine in the evening."

She adds that everyone is welcome, "The brewery is kid-friendly and also dog-friendly, so we're hoping everybody brings their dogs out and is able to have a good time."

You pay for beer and food, but admission is free.

Knight is excited about the eating options, "We'll also have food provided by Earth and Stone. I think they're going to do some sausage and some real interesting sides. So we're looking forward to that."

All that goes to help pets who make their own little sacrifices for our deployed troops.

Knight adds, "We're going to get 20 percent of the sales from the evening, and also there will be a silent auction. 100 percent of the proceeds of the silent auction will go to what we're trying to do for animals."

Not bad for a nice evening in a beer garden.

You can find the Facebook event for Wednesday's Beer, Dogs, and Veterans here.

The group will also host a separate event in Florence at Singin' River Brewing on Thursday.
