HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – This week, top city leaders in Huntsville are focusing on The Big Picture for the Rocket City.
It’s an effort aimed at opening up more green space and putting into action the things residents want to see for Huntsville.
City officials have been asking for public input since May as to how Huntsville should progress. Tonight offers another opportunity for residents to chime in with their thoughts for the future of Huntsville.
Tonight will be the first day of a two-day Citizens Academy discussing economic development, during which organizers will discuss what to do with empty shopping centers and what does the future of commercial development look like.
That discussion will take place at Lee High School at 6:00pm.
The city’s Long-Range Urban Planner Dennis Madsen and others will make presentations.
Part Two of the Citizens Academy will be Thursday night at 6:00pm at Challenger Middle School.
The Citizens Academy is free and open to the public.
