HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Police say a man shot at the Twickenham Lodge Apartments around 4 a.m. Thursday has died from his injuries.

It happened at an apartment located on the 4100 block of Knight Road. Investigators say a neighbor called police after she heard two men arguing and then heard several gunshots.

Officers found a man lying on the living room floor of the apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, 33-year-old Douglas Williams, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Major crimes and crime scene investigators were called in to work the scene.

Lt. Lawson with Huntsville Police Department says, "Major crimes does have some leads in the case so we are still in the early stages. So we are right now trying to access and gather to see what exactly did occur."

Police are still searching for the shooter.

Lawson says they are looking at this case from several different angles, "Usually what happens is it's a combinations of the witnesses, the person's history and who his relationships were with other people and evidence at the scene that typically leads to an arrest."

Williams does have a past criminal history, which investigators say will aid in the investigation. So far they do not know who else was involved and what lead to the shooting.
