Man tackles suspected robber after witnessing robbery at Dollar General in Toney

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. — One person is in custody Saturday after a resident helped deputies stop the offender, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Julius Jordan Mayfield faces a First-degree Robbery charge. He is in the Madison County Jail with a $60,000 bond.

The sheriff’s office says a robbery was reported at 11:20 a.m. at a Dollar General on Pulaski Pike in Toney. While in route, the offender was tackled by a witness who saw the robbery take place. Upon arrival, deputies were able to make an arrest and recovered the firearm used in the robbery.
