MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) – On Friday, the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals denied Amy Bishop’s appeal of her guilty plea.

With this ruling, the court affirms her conviction.  Bishop is serving life in prison without parole for the shootings at UAH in February 2010.  Three people died and three others were injured during a faculty meeting.

Bishop pleaded guilty in September 2012, but later appealed.  Huntsville attorney Ron Smith represented Bishop in her appeal, since her court-appointed attorneys filed paperwork to sever ties with her.

Bishop appealed on a technicality, claiming the state did not verbally tell her she had the right to withdraw her plea.
