Apartment fire in Huntsville leaves several families without a home

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.  (WHNT)-  Several families lost their homes after an apartment fire Saturday.

The fire started around 7:30 Saturday night at the Willow Pointe apartment complex in the northwest part of the city off Rideout Drive.

Huntsville Fire, Huntsville Police Officers and HEMSI all responded to the call. Fire crew’s at the scene said the fire started in the attic. They said the residents started smelling smoke and got out of the building.

The flames spread to several units. No word yet on how many families will be displaced.

No injuries were reported.

Huntsville fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
