MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) - So many outlets rely on the American Red Cross, and they rely on you. The organization faces a serious shortage due to a lack of donations.

"The ideal thing would be to always have a consistent supply of blood," said Red Cross communication manager Tiffany Taylor. "We can't afford to have a blood shortage because our hospitals and their patients are needing this stable blood supply."

But with help from a community business, they have a new offer to get more people to donate.

"SportClips has agreed to partner with us during the month of September to offer an incentive: a free haircut," said Taylor, who explained that the Red Cross has partnered with the barbershop chain in the past. "We're just so thankful for them being so community-minded."

It's called the 'Saving a Life Never Looked So Good' initiative, and all you have to do after donating is make sure the Red Cross has a correct email address. You get your coupon, and that gets you a free haircut.

"There's no better feeling than knowing you've helped save not just one life, but up to three lives by taking a little time out of your day to give something you already have, the gift of life," said Taylor.

The program runs Sept. 1-Sept 30.
