2015 Huntsville Restaurant Week underway through Aug. 23

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Huntsville Restaurant Week is back and bigger than ever.

The 10-day event is now underway, with more than 60 local eateries offering lunch and/or dinner specials.

The restaurants can choose to offer lunch specials for $5, $10 or $15, including a main course and an appetizer or dessert.

Dinner specials must include an appetizer, main course and dessert for $10, $20 or $30.

This is the fourth year for the celebration, which focuses on locally owned and operated eateries, like Mason Dixon Bakery & Bistro.

Owned by Taylor and Ashley Ramirez, the restaurant is 100% gluten-free and can also accommodate guests with other food allergies.

This is the first year Mason Dixon Bakery & Bistro has participated in Huntsville Restaurant Week. The couple hopes it will introduce their food to an even wider customer base.

"We're just hoping to show them, 'hey, it's not just some healthy fad. It's just real food cooked with real ingredients,'" Taylor Ramirez says. "Fresh food just tastes better," Ashley Ramirez adds.

Huntsville Restaurant Week is organized by the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau. During the event, customers are encouraged to use the official hashtag #DineHSV for a chance to win gift certificates to participating restaurants.
