HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 565 Eastbound killed two people and injured five others early Saturday morning.

Huntsville Police confirmed on Monday morning that 47-year-old Arlene Veronica Velasquez and 24-year-old Hannah Leigh Parton were killed in the wreck.

The five others injured were treated at Huntsville Hospital and released.

The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. near the eastbound interchange of I-565 and Highway 72.

According to a spokesperson with Huntsville Police (HPD), investigators believe the vehicle going westbound in the eastbound lanes caused the crash.

Officials said the wrong-way driver struck one vehicle, killing a passenger, before hitting another car, killing the driver of the second vehicle.

HPD said charges are expected at a later date pending toxicology results.
