Tuesday, Officials confirmed Dantoine Cortez Benford, 24 and Rodney Lamar Thomas, 22 were the men that were shot. According to officials, both men are in stable condition. One of the victim’s siblings, Brittany Benford says she received a call that morning saying her brother and another man had been shot. Benford says she’s glad to hear her brother is in stable condition but she wants to prevent this violence from happening in her neighborhood. “For real, we’ve got to come together as a community,” said Benford. Authorities say the two men aren’t cooperating with them, which is making the investigation difficult. They’re unsure of where the shooting started and what the motives were. Benford says many people choose not to give information to the police, which is another problem. “Some people don’t report that. They keep it in the streets,” said Benford. But she wishes everyone would work together to make the community safer. Huntsville Police Department’s Lieutenant Johnson says if you have any information on the case to call the Huntsville Police Department at (256)722-7100. Or go to Crimestoppers. “You can remain anonymous and you can reach out to us through Crimestoppers or you can just make a phone call to us and withhold your name,” said Lieutenant Johnson.
