Huntsville wreck shuts down all eastbound lanes of I-565

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — All eastbound lanes of I-565 were shutdown Sunday night after a wreck caused “serious injuries” near the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

According to Huntsville Police (HPD), the wreck happened around 9:15 p.m. and involved four vehicles. Police say one person was transported to the hospital after sustaining injuries, but “is expected to survive.”

HPD says all lanes were closed from Old Madison Pike to Jordan Lane with traffic being diverted off the interstate at the Old Madison Pike exit. The Sparkman Drive eastbound on-ramp was also closed.

Officials advised that drivers avoid the area at this time and seek alternate routes until the interstate is reopened.

This is a developing story.
