UPDATE: Huntsville Utility crews restore power to 600 homes from late night outage

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – As temperatures sank to just above freezing in Huntsville Saturday night, some 600 homes in southeast Huntsville had no power for a couple of hours.

According to a statement from Gary Whitley of Huntsville Utilities, the city the power outage hit at 11:40 p.m.

It affected 600 homes from Logan Drive / Lily Flagg Road south to Meadowbrook Drive and from the Redstone Arsenal to just east of Memorial Parkway to Hogan Drive.

Whitley issued a statement saying crews restored power around 1:35 a.m. Sunday.

Whitley wrote that the outage was caused by an equipment failure inside a substation.
