HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – If you have an interest in the outdoors, the South Hall of the Von Braun Center in Huntsville is the place to be.

It’s the home of this year’s Tennessee Valley Hunting and Fishing Expo.

And this year, attendees will have the chance to meet two big TV celebrities, as well as a famous furry creature.

Organizers of the TVHFE say it’s weekend entertainment for the family, designed for outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds.

“Anything that could tie in with outdoors,” said Will Ainsworth, a promoter of the Expo.  “We’ve got hot tubs, we’ve got furniture for lodges, we’ve got boats, we’ve got RVs, campers, 4-wheelers, all kind of neat stuff.   We’ve got trucks here and you can actually test drive Dodge Ram, you could win a free hunt.”

Ainsworth said 500 vendors are set up from across the U.S. and, for the first time, Australia.  That vendor is selling three-second and 30-second pop-up camping tents.

In addition to everything related to hunting and fishing, there are items specifically for women.   That includes furniture, clothing and jewelry for which some of the proceeds go to feed hungry children.

Vendors who’ve been part of it before say it’s a chance to reach all ages of people.

Furthermore, attendees can see hands-on product demonstrations from a wide range of hunting and fishing vendors.  In fact, some of the guest appearances are from expert fishermen.

Even more important, to some people perhaps, is the opportunity to get an autograph from two of the stars on the hit TV series “Duck Dynasty”.  The youngest son of Phil and Kay Robertson, Jep Robertson and his wife Jessica.  Jep is the cameraman and editor for the family business.  The couple will be signing autographs Friday from 5:30p.m.-7:30p.m. and Saturday from 9:00a.m.-1:00p.m.

The Expo gets underway at 3:00 p.m. Friday and stays open until 9:00 p.m.
On Saturday, the Expo opens at 9:00 a.m. and goes until 9:00 p.m.
And on Sunday, the event starts at 10:00 a.m. and wraps up at 5:00 p.m.

There are hundreds of exhibitors and you can see who they are and where they are online, using a map of the Expo.

Tickets for adults are ten dollars each. Children 12 years old and younger get in free.

Also, Twiggy, the water skiing squirrel, will be there.  Not only is he cute and famous, but he comes with a message about water safety.  The husband of his owner passed away from a boating accident years ago.  So, Twiggy promotes the use of life jackets and other safety procedures to follow whenever you’re around water.

You can see Twiggy perform at the Expo at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday.    On Saturday, Twiggy will perform at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m.    Then, Twiggy will do three more shows on Sunday:  11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

And don’t miss your chance to win prizes in the duck-calling contest.  That will be Saturday at noon.  There’s a fee of $10 fee to compete.
