Hazel Green, Ala. - (WHNT) If you asked Trojan football fans four years ago about a 5-5 season, most would have been ecstatic. Matt Putnam took over a program in turmoil during the 2012 offseason. His team won zero games the year before and needed a spark to get back on track.

Slowly but surely Hazel Green became competitive, and now they're looking to keep up the trend.

"We were in every game we played. We were 5-5 but could have easily been 9-1, " Putnam said during his team's second practice of training camp. "That's how it is in the biggest classification in the state. We have a great opportunity in 7A."

To get over the hump, Putnam is preaching the motto of "finish." Finishing plays, finishing games, and the Trojans are hoping that motto can translate to wins in 2014.
