MADISON, AL-  Madison City Council members will meet with the Madison City Board of Education to try to hammer out several issues, the biggest dealing with a tax in Limestone County.

The meeting will take place at Madison City Schools central office at 211 Celtic Drive at 5:30 p.m.

Madison City school district officials say they're missing out on $1.7 million dollars in tax revenue, that's because 1,800 students in the Madison City district live in Limestone County; those residents pay a county wide 5.5 mil ad valorem tax that is collected for the purpose of education. Additionally, they pay a 2-cent sales tax. Madison City Schools receive no money from these taxes since the children have Limestone County addresses.

They will also discuss growth challenges and other issues.
