The Atlantic hurricane season is officially underway.

Alabama Governor Roberty Bentley and Art Faulkner, Director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, met on Friday to discuss the season and the state’s plan for preparation.

Both Governor Bentley and Faulkner stressed the importance of staying prepared all season long.

“Hurricanes are not just coastal,” said Faulkner. “We know from experience, from even back with Hurricane Opal, where our northern-most counties in the state received hurricane force winds.”

Hurricane season lasts until November 30th.
