TUSKEGEE, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say four Tuskegee University students were wounded by gunfire in an off-campus shooting.

Tuskegee Police Chief Lester Patrick said officers responded to reports of the shooting around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, where the students had been at a party.

Patrick tells The Opelika-Auburn News that two of the students were in stable condition at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. He said two others were released from the hospital Sunday morning.

Tuskegee University said in a statement Sunday that the students are expected to recover from their injuries.

The newspaper reports that a fifth person, who isn’t a student, was also wounded but didn’t seek treatment at the hospital.

The university said it is cooperating with police, and also looking into whether there were violations of the student conduct code.
