HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - First a review...

Cigarette lighter starters claim to work like jumper cables or booster packs.    Instead of hooking connectors directly on a car battery, you use car cigarette lighters to jump a dead battery.

We’ve tested the Portajump, the Sharper Image E-Z Jump Start System, and the Black & Decker Simple Start and none of them work.

After we tested the E-Z Jump from Sharper Image, we received several emails from viewers speculating on why the product didn’t work.

We tested the Black & Decker Simple Start with Hartman’s Garage and it didn’t work.

So, we got back on the horse so to speak, and got our friends at TAG Automotive just off Governor’s Drive to test the EZ Jump.

Even under perfect conditions the EZ Jump wouldn’t crank a dead vehicle.  The SUV we used had been driven earlier in the day, and the battery drained just enough so that it wouldn’t crank.  The SUV was indoors in a warm cozy environment instead of the elements.

We followed the directions to the letter, and the EZ jump wouldn’t crank the SUV.

We’ve done several tests on cigarette lighter starters and none of them have worked with pros testing them.

I’m done, and as the kids say, I’m over it.

If someone can make one of these products work, please contact me so you can demonstrate your success.
