DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. – A woman drowned Saturday night in Fort Payne after a flash flood warning was issued for the area.

DeKalb County Deputy Coroner Chris Thacker said 23-year-old Makayla Ross from Rainsville drowned after her car went into a creek near the road.

Thacker said heavy rain contributed to the high water levels in the creek.
