LAWRENCE, COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Fire crews in Lawrence County battled a corn silo fire just north of Courtland on County Road 389.
Six fire departments responded including: Hillsboro, North Courtland, Town Creek and Hatton.
25-thousand barrels of corn were in the silo, when it caught fire late Friday evening.
By the 6 hour mark around 18-thousand gallons of water had already been used to put the fire out.
At around midnight on Friday, firefighters were still working to make sure the fire was contained.
The owners are hopeful they will be able to salvage some of the corn.
