Fire and Rescue crews investigate unidentified substance in water at Big Spring Park

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Fire and Rescue crews are investigating an unidentified substance in the water at Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville.

Officials told WHNT News 19’s crew on the scene that there is a “sheen” on the water that they are attempting to identify. They are trying to keep the substance from spreading.

The call reporting the sheen came in at 3:15 p.m.

Church Street is partially blocked off while officials investigate.
