ATHENS, Ala. — Athens officials said a fire that killed a man early Tuesday morning appears to have been electrical in nature.

Interim Athens Fire Chief James Hand said that’s the intial indication, and they are still investigating the fire that killed Richard Booth, 70.

Firefighters responded to the house fire on Lawson Street just after 4 a.m. Tuesday. Booth was the only person in the home, officials said.
