UPDATE: It's been a little more than a month since we introduced you to Amare Cunningham. Thanks to the generosity of Kathryn Roberts of McClary Tire in Decatur, the family car received new tires, an alignment, an oil change and new brakes.

As for his Go Fund Me account, your generous donations increased it from around $1,600 to more than $9,500. On behalf of Cunningham and his family, thank you!

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) - Amare Cunningham is just like most  7-year-old children - he likes to dance, the way to his heart is through his stomach and he loves his family.

"He doesn't let anything get him down most of the time," Amare's Mother Kandice Stover said.

Which is amazing considering all that he's been through in his short life. He has a condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 1.

"Causes tumors throughout the body on the skeletal system and nervous system," Stover explained.

He was born with the disorder, and to say dealing with this condition has been a challenge for Amare and his family, would be an understatement.

"It's just a lot of going back and forth to Birmingham that we have to deal with and a bunch of doctors," Stover said.

The family depends on one car to take them everywhere, including monthly trips to his specialists in Birmingham. That's one reason Stover set up a Go Fund Me account to help Amare keep bouncing back.

"To help us with any medical bills and helping us get back and forth to Birmingham," Stover said.

Because underneath the tumors that cover his head, is a light for all who know him.

"He always keep in good spirits," Stepfather Alonzo Pickett said.
