HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – It’s been weeks since the Holiday Inn Express and Suites on University Drive in Huntsville has hosted any guests, but on Wednesday, it was once again a hive of activity. Nearly every item, inside and out, sported a price tag. The linens had been stripped from the beds. Even the bathroom shower heads had been removed. Meanwhile, liquidation crews went through a final checklist ahead of Thursday’s big sale.

The man responsible for all the activity is Don Hayes, president of National Content Liquidators. His company also liquidated the Downtown Huntsville Holiday Inn this winter. Asked to compare the two properties he says, “about the same, as far as quality. We’ve got 160 32-inch LG TV’s that are only two years old. This place was remodeled in 2010, so it’s all in pretty good shape.”

As with the downtown location, everything at 3810 University Drive will be sold “as is, where is.” Hayes recommends prospective buyers bring along some help to move heavier items. The hotel is two stories and there is no elevator.

In addition to tax, there will also be a 10% buyers premium on each item sold. This is the money collected by National Content Liquidators for conducting the sale. Accepted forms of payment are cash, Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

The sale begins Thursday, May 22 at 10am. It will continue for 30 days. Hours will be 10am-7pm Monday through Saturday and 12pm-5pm on Sundays. Afterward, the building will be demolished.
