HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – School is only a few weeks away and many teachers are busy preparing their classrooms. It’s a task that can cost them hundreds of dollars. This year, however, there is a more affordable option for classroom materials.

The Educator Exchange is a consignment sale organized by Tracy Walker. Walker, a former teacher, says she realized the need for such an event after trying to figure out what to do with her own supplies after she left the classroom.

Some of the sale items come from retiring teachers. Others are from teachers who found themselves with extras at the end of the year. The consignment gives these educators a chance to sell their unneeded supplies, while helping other teachers make their purchases at a discount.

The sale, which is also open to homeschooling parents, begins Thursday, July 17th. It runs through Sunday and is taking place in the auditorium of Providence Classical School. The school is at 605 Clinton Avenue, in the former East Clinton Elementary building. Shoppers are advised to park in the back and bring a bag to carry their purchases.

Hours are as follows:

Thursday, July 17th:     10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Friday, July 18th:            10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 19th:      9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Sunday, July 20th:          Half-price 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
