LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – State Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency have identified the man killed in a single-vehicle wreck Monday night. They identified him as Calvin Newton, 63, of Elkmont.
Investigators say Newton was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette on Alabama 127 when he lost control and hit a utility pole. They say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car on impact.
The preliminary investigation indicates speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Authorities on the scene say some residents in the area of the crash lost power, but crews worked quickly to restore service to the area.
