Senator John McCain was caught playing what appears to be a game of poker – on his iPhone – during a U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations hearing.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday afternoon that its photographer Melina Mara had spotted McCain (R-Ariz.) “passing the time by playing poker on his iPhone during the hearing.” A photo backing up the claim was later posted by the news outlet online.

That snapshot quickly made the rounds on Twitter. In response, McCain tweeted out the following: “Scandal! Caught playing iPhone game at 3+ hour Senate hearing – worst of all I lost!”

At Tuesday’s hearing, Secretary of State JohnKerry, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey all testifed about the options for U.S. intervention in Syria. The country’s leaders are accused of using chemical weapons on their own people.
