HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Looking for a way to keep track of your older children on Halloween night? You might want to browse your smartphone’s app store for a tracking app.

An adult should always accompany small children as they Trick-or-Treat. Older children though, may be able to venture out without mom and dad.

That’s where apps like “Trick or Tracker” come in.

It’s been around for awhile but developer Monster Arts, Inc. said in a news release it offers new and improved features for 2014.

Here’s how it works. Parents download the app on their device and their child’s. The parent can then find a child on-demand or at pre-set check-in times.

The child can also contact a parent at any time, locating them easily or sending a distress message complete with a map.

To keep kids from wandering too far outside the neighborhood, parents can also set up “geo-fences.” An alert will notify the parent if a child gets outside the set area.

The Trick or Tracker app can be downloaded through iTunes, Amazon or Google Play for Android or Apple devices. It normally costs $4.99 for a lifetime license but until Oct. 31st, you can get it at trickortracker.com for free.
