HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Emojis are all the rage now and a great way to express yourself digitally when words just won't cut it.

If you're new to the emoji game, or looking to expand your options, here are some tips:

First, check and see if your phone can actually display emojis. The easiest way to do that is by doing a simple search for the word emoji. If you see the icons, you're good to go!

Next, see if your current keyboard has emojis built in. Just open up a text message and look for a smiley face icon. On some phones you'll need to press and hold a microphone button.

Don't see anything? Switch to keyboard input. You can do that by opening a text box area, swiping down from the top of the screen and selecting a different keyboard.

No luck still?

Try downloading a third-party keyboard like Swype or Google Keyboard.
