HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Madison County Sheriff’s Office has located and cleared a person with information in the Wednesday night shooting on Moores Mill Road.

Thursday afternoon, MCSO said they were looking for a person who “may have information vital to the ongoing homicide investigation.”

However, once the man was located it was confirmed Friday evening that he was, “in the wrong place, at the wrong time.”

The shooting took place at a trailer that MSCO Lieutenant Whitt said was an underground gambling operation. The victim, 61-year-old Billy Bernard Powers, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Madison County Coroner Tyler Berryhill ruled the death a homicide.

While a suspect has not been arrested, deputies do not believe there is any threat to the public.
