TANNER, Ala. - Traffic is flowing smoothly again on Highway 20 East in Decatur after part of the road was shut down earlier Monday.

An 18-wheeler lost a roll of steel just after 12 p.m. The steel fell off a flatbed trailer into the median near where Highway 20 and Highway 31 intersect.

"The truck driver had a hard brake, and his load became unsecured, unchained and came through trailer and hit his cab," said Lt. Scott Norwood with Decatur Fire & Rescue.

Crews shut down part of Highway 20 East this afternoon so they could move the steel roll. It weighs 42,000 pounds, Norwood said.

Good news -- the area is back open for your drive home.
