MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) –Alabama State Troopers say they still can’t release the name of the woman who died in a wreck Saturday morning.

They say the woman’s body hasn’t been positively identified by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The woman crashed her car into a house in Morgan County early Saturday morning..

Several fire departments responded to the wreck on Pridemore Private Drive, near Hulaco Road and Highway 67, around 5:00 this morning. Authorities say it appears the driver lost control of her car, causing her to cross three lanes of traffic and run off the road, hit a sign post, scrape a telephone pole, and knock over a tree before slamming into the side of a house.

The car caught fire after the impact, also causing the exterior of the home to catch fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Her ID is currently unknown.

An elderly woman was home at the time of the crash, but she is not hurt. Rescue workers report a passerby saw the fire and was able to wake the woman and get her out of the house.

Alabama State Troopers out of the Decatur post are investigating.
