DECATUR, Ala. – Police have arrested a woman in connection to a stolen checkbook.  In July, a 67-year-old Decatur woman reported that someone had stolen her checkbook from her house and were writing checks all over the city.

Detective Selby De Leon of the Decatur Police Department’s Financial Crimes unit investigated and developed Casey Morgan Hayes as a suspect in the case.

Detective De Leon discovered that over $500 dollars was stolen from the victim, and multiple checks were written using the victim’s signature.

Authorities located and arrested Hayes on Wednesday in Moulton.  Hayes is charged with three counts of forgery and theft of property.

Authorities say Hayes is in the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
