Tennessee Riverkeeper removes 1,300 pounds of litter from Decatur tributary

DECATUR, Ala. – Saturday, Tennessee Riverkeeper removed more than 1,300 pounds of aquatic litter from Betty Rye Branch in Decatur, a tributary of the Tennessee River.

11 people attended, wore protective gear, and practiced social distancing along the creek.

Riverkeeper says most of the litter found was made from some form of plastic like styrofoam, plastic bottles, bags, and straws.
