School Bus Carrying Summer Campers Collides With Motorcycle In Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) - Decatur Police are investigating a wreck involving a school bus and a motorcycle.  The bus was carrying kids in a local summer camp.

Just after 8 a.m. police were called to a wreck on 6th Avenue near Gordon Drive SE.  They saw a red Harley Davidson motorcycle pinned under the front end of a Decatur City Schools bus.

Police say the school bus was headed east on Gordon Drive, turning north onto 6th Avenue.  The motorcycle was traveling west on Gordon Drive crossing at 6th.

The driver of the motorcycle, Ronnie J. White, was flown to Huntsville Hospital.  He is 57 years old and lives in Moulton. We understand he is in serious condition.

The driver of the bus, Harold Sandilands Jr., was not injured.  Police say some of the children on the bus reported minor injuries.  They were headed to Bridge Street in Huntsville for a field trip.
