DECATUR, Ala. – Decatur City Schools Superintendent Ed Nichols says a man who was not a student was arrested at Austin High School and found to be carrying a gun on school grounds Thursday.

Nichols said a school administrator noticed two men who were not students walking the halls of the school Thursday. When a school resource officer confronted the men, they became agitated, leading the SRO to arrest them for trespassing, according to Nichols.

After they were arrested and searched, police found that one of the men in custody was carrying a gun.

Nichols said that there was no threat to the school. He said he believed that the men were there to pick up a student.

More charges could be coming.
